Short answer: A custom mailer box is a sturdy corrugated shipping box with an attached lid, designed to protect your product in transit and make a strong first impression. Packaging Source Inc. manufactures custom mailer boxes for e-commerce, subscription and promotional programs, with velcro or adhesive closures.
Why mailer boxes matter more every year
More shopping now ends in a doorway delivery. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that e-commerce reached 17.1% of total U.S. retail sales in the second quarter of 2026, up from 16.3% a year earlier, and that online sales totaled $340.2 billion, up 12.2% year over year. Each of those orders arrives in a box, and the box is often the only part of your brand the customer touches.
Mailer box options

A standard shipping box is usually taped shut and plain, while a mailer box is designed to open like a lid, close securely without tape, and carry full branding.
